A Great Margarita Recipe
One of my favorite summer indulgences is a lime margarita. Margarita’s make for a great summer drink because they are cold and refreshing. It’s perfect for a large crowd or one-on-one with that special someone. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed several different recipes. My current favorite is the “Matt-arita”!
Some friends of ours, Matt and Sarah, passed along this great margarita recipe called the “Matt-arita”. I hope you enjoy as much as we do.

The Secret Recipe
Blend:
- 1 can of frozen limeade
- Add 2 cans of orange juice, use the limeade container to measure
- 10 second pour of tequila (from a bottle with the plastic pour cap)
- 3 second pour of triple sec (can substitute half gran marnier, half contreu)
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- optional add strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, raspberries, or extra sugar if desired
- fill the rest of the blender with ice
Blend until smooth
Pour into a glass and add 1 1/2 ounces of Gran Marnier and a slice of lime on top
Extra Thoughts
- Orange juice smoothes out the flavor, cutting the bite of the lime
- For a more traditional lime-flavored margarita, add 3 – 4 Tbsp of lime juice
- Top off with your favorite Sangria for a margarita-swirl
- Ice can dilute the flavor. Instead, do not add ice and put your liqueurs in the freezer the night before
- For parties, make the margarita the night before and freeze in a tupperware over night. When its tim to dish them out, microwave for about 20 – 30 seconds (depending on the size of the container)
What do you think? Do you have a favorite summer drink?

LOL OK, if I didn’t love you before I do now, for knowing that sitting back and relaxing with a delicious beverage (alcoholic or not) on a beautiful summer day is an important part of home ownership!
We don’t drink much, and when we do we tend to take the easy way out and grab a Smirnoff Ice Mango, but my mint patch exists for mojitos. Also, Dogfish Head (local brewery and distillery) makes a blood orange infused vodka and a dark chocolate infused vodka, and either one of those or some of both together, shaken well with ice then poured out into a martini glass, are heaven in a bottle.

Mmmm. I had a plan to stay on the wagon for the next month but this made me want to re-think that plan.
For cool and refreshing cocktails, I ALWAYS love a good margarita but I also love mojitos and a nice greyhound. I guess the key is something citrus.

That sounds good… but I’ll wager a deal against MY (stolen from someone else) margarita recipe any day!
3 parts Cuervo Gold
2 parts Duffy’s Lime Juice
1 part triple sec
1 part apple juice
Blend lightly with ice. Has to have salt.
The frozen ones are good.. but there is no subsitution for on the rocks!
