DIY Toilet Cleaner
Making your own cleaning solutions is an easy way to save money and ensure you are not using damaging chemicals around your house. Just about every surface and material can be cleaned in an environmentally friendly way. Todays post is all about how to keep your toilet bowl nice and bright.

Making Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Lots of great cleaning solutions can be made with baking soda and vinegar and toilet bowl cleaner is not very different.
Materials
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- Scrub brush
Alternate instructions call for 2 parts borax and one part lemon juice.
How to make the solution
Mix the vinegar and baking soda in a bowl but don’t forget about that homemade volcano from the 5th grade as I did. When you mix vinegar and baking soda it will effervesce so mix them slowly!
Pour the mixture into the toilet bowl and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Follow up with the scrub brush.
Benefits of Cleaning with Vinegar and Baking Soda
The casual observer (not sure who observers toilet cleaning) will say that they can get their toilet just as clean using the scrub brush alone. However, they’d miss out on the inherent benefits of vinegar and baking soda.
Vinegar
Vinegar is acidic meaning it will fight mold and bacteria growth and dissolve mineral buildup. It’s an effective disinfectant and deodorizer
while remaining non-toxic, child safe, and environmentally friendly.
Baking soda
The baking soda is useful because it will absorb odors and acts as a mild abrasive to help remove dirt and grime. It’s also safe around children and the earth approves.
What do you think? What do you keeps your “bowl” clean?
