Target TV Stand Review: Sturdy and Fashionable

This past week was Ethan’s birthday and I surprised him with a new TV and TV stand. As I looked around for a TV stand big enough to hold our 50″ Samsung DLP, most I found were pretty ugly - functional, maybe, but definitely too modern and cold for my taste. The ones I did like were way out of my price range. So I looked around online and found a winner at Target. It cost $309 (available online only), but I got free shipping and 15% off.

It came unassembled, but with Kim’s help, we had it assembled with little trouble in an hour and half. The directions were easy to read and everything was clearly labeled. I highly recommend having a friend help you assemble as it’s rather bulky for one person (I will let you borrow Kim if you can’t find one). :)

I love it! It is quite solid and will easily hold the weight of the TV and whatever is stored inside. Even though durability is important, those who know me understand that the look and style of the piece is most important to me. I am happy to say that it fits very well with the style of the room and is not intrusive with the decor. It also provides the perfect amount of storage for the DVD player and game systems, without being large and bulky.

The only down-sides of this TV stand are that it only comes in black (no wood tones) and you must assemble it yourself. Overall, it was well worth the money!

What do you think? Do you purchase furniture online?

  1. I was really hoping you’d say that since you couldn’t find one you liked, you bought him the materials to make it himself!

I’ve seen that one and admired it, too. I’m currently keeping my eye on a mission style console table from Target. I’ve bought furniture there for years, stuff I got to just get me through college and ended up being great pieces. I’ll buy any furniture online as long as it doesn’t require comfort– I want to sit in my couches before buying!

Is it me, or does your blog look a lot different?

    p.s. Nice TV stand!

  3. Sandy,

We’ve been trying to get a new header graphic working, and have been making some changes to the site!! Can you let us know what looks “different” now? Particularly if it’s hard to read or something like that. We couldn’t get some things working so we ended up changing it back for tonight. Send us an e-mail at oneprojectcloser@gmail.com

  4. It’s hard to read right now… you have to scroll down a bunch to get to the text.

I like the stand… I don’t like fake wood tones and so would go with black regardless of the choice!

  5. Wow! I just hit the site from a different PC - looked TERRIBLE! I hope this is fixed now :-) Thanks Sandy and Jennifer.

  6. Jocie responds:

    Hey Gals,
Thanks for the nice feedback about the TV stand.
Amalie, its funny that you say that, because in our bedroom, I couldn’t find a bedside table that I liked, so Ethan built me one! :)

  7. My wife and I are big fans of Target furniture…which I guess is another way of saying we’re fans of affordable furniture. The other day we looked around our living/dining room and realized just about everything was from there except the couch. And yes, even our TV and TV stand are from there.

If you look around at the Before & After gallery on our blog you’ve bound to spot plenty Target finds. Glad to see you guys are liking yours!

    -John

  8. Ethan responds:

@John, Jocie and I are in the same boat. A good bit of our furniture is Target (end tables, buffet, etc.). Thanks for stopping by.
