If you’re Jay Shafer, the answer is a decided yes. Jay lives comfortably in a house that’s only 89 square feet – less than 1/10 the size of the average American home.

Nope, I’m easily frustrated by clutter and would not be able to pare down the essentials enough. I mean I could do it, but I don’t want to. Life is short, I want to have loads of books, pretty vases, and throw pillows in my life!

Sara – well said!
I will say that I like Jay’s perspective on life – the freedom that comes with not needing a huge amount of space or the associated mortgage. Every month we make that payment and the number hardly drops at all, I’m reminded of just HOW MUCH a house costs!
