We had a problem with Japanese Beatles last year. I did some research and ended up buying some Milky Spore bacterium. I spread it around the back yard, so we'll have to see if it really works as well as they say.

@BeccaMarie - So far I've been really pleased with Sevin. I keep checking and haven't seen any signs of the bugs. I keep forgetting to throw up a picture to see if anyone knows what it is. It's great to hear of your parents experience. I might try out a home remedy just to see how it works. Who knew grits were so versatile!?

When I was in high school my parents bought a house that had about 3 acres of fruit trees. The people they bought the house from told them to make sure to get some Sevin for the trees and spray them good when the fruit starts to show. No one remembered and all the fruit was ruined that year because of "bag bugs"(I have no idea what they're actually called). The next year they used the Sevin and had no bugs at all. So I tell every one to use Sevin because it really works.

As far as home rememdies go I only know of 2. Dry grits get rid of ants (it makes them explode!) and "monkey balls" repel spiders. I'm not really sure what monkey balls are. My mom says they're pawpaw fruit and some one else told me it's osage orange...but they're big, green, lumpy balls that fall off trees.
