Playing Tag With Baltimore Rowhouse

This post isn’t at all home improvement related.  All the blog trainers out there tell us to stay on topic… but what can we do?  We were recently tagged by our fellow house blogger Corey at Baltimore Rowhouse.  Now, we’re so close to Corey (he’s about 20 minutes away in Baltimore City) that he could’ve come and literally tagged our house.  So, we figured we better take this seriously.

The rules of this meme?  Pretty simple… We have to answer the questions and tag a few other people.  (We’re also supposed to leave a message on their blog and let them know they’ve been tagged.  I remember no such message from Corey, so I’m viewing this as an optional rule… Hopefully the people we tag will see it and respond if they want to).

One more thing… Our blog is actually written by four of us, and Corey’s questions are personal.  So, what follows doesn’t represent the views of One Project Closer… It only represents the views of me :-)

1. What did you do 10 years ago? (June 2000)

Well, besides eat, sleep, etc. (all things I still enjoy), I guess I was finishing up a B.S. in Computer Science at Loyola College in Maryland.  I was also a software developer for a very small accounting software company called GAAP Software, Inc.  For those of you in accounting, you can imagine how valuable the site www.gaap.com is.  And yes, they own it.  When I worked there I actually designed their site using Macromedia Flash.  Took them several years until they replaced it with the nicer looking version they had now.  I hadn’t yet met Kim (that would come a year later).  I guess for the most part I was working hard to get through school to see what was next.

2. Five items on your to-do list today:

Well, unfortunately I have to work today.  So some of these items will stay on my list for later in the week/month.  I’m sure I’ll get to at least 1, and hopefully 5.  Everything else can wait.

  1. Spend time with Kim and the kids.
  2. Finish laying the next section of radiant heated flooring mats in the basement.
  3. Get & spread mulch around the gardens.
  4. Plant new flowers.
  5. Hang out with friends.

3. Snacks I enjoy:  Dorritos. They’re great.

4. What would you do if you were a billionaire?  Volunteer. Figure out a good strategy to give the great majority of the money away.  Finish the projects I’ve got going on around the house.  Travel.  Try to maintain middle class perspective.  Oh yeah.. and our Before and After Event would be giving $250,000 to Habitat each week instead of just $25.

5. Places I would live: I think we’d try just about anywhere for 3 months.  I’ve really enjoyed everywhere we’ve been.  I think we’d probably continue to keep a home base here in Baltimore.

6. Bloggers I am passing the challenge onto are:  How about Cottager’s Wife, Tiny Old House, Stupid Scholar, and Not Before 7.
