Review: Craftsman 6ft. Workbench
This post marks the beginning of a series dedicated to workshop and garage storage. Craftsman was kind enough to provide us the elements of the Craftsman Garage Storage Collection including the workbench, 5-drawer module, floor cabinet, wall cabinet, and VersaTrack.
Craftsman is a trusted name in the construction and DIY industry. Half my tools are Craftsman brand and I wouldn’t trade them for any other. The Craftsman Workbench is no exception. It’s a quality workbench suited for anyone, amateur or professional.
Where to Buy the Craftsman 6 foot Workbench
If you’re in the market for a high-quality, durable workbench, the Craftsman Workbench is an excellent choice. This steel-frame workbench retails for $209.99. Shop the competition and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better workbench. Craftsman products are available from Sears. Here’s the link:
Craftsman Workbench Review
Quality Construction
A workbench doesn’t actively do anything. The main purpose of a workbench is to provide a reliable work space no matter what you clamp down, hammer together, or take apart. Craftsman uses a heavy, 1″ particle board for the bench top, and it’s rated to hold a 1450 lbs. load! All other parts are steel-constructed. Needless to say, this a solid workbench made from high quality materials.
Workbench Dimensions
These are the dimensions that I measured. I wanted to provide real, already-setup, numbers and not just what the Sears site posted.

The back-splash rises 2″ above the work-top and the supporting framework is recessed at least 1-1/2″ inches on all side.
Assembling the Workbench
It was really easy to assemble this workbench. There’s only seven different pieces and the instructions include great diagrams mapping out what goes where. It took me about an hour and a half from opening the box to tightening the last screw. Craftsman includes the exact number of nuts, bolts, and washers needed, and I think that speaks to their attention to detail. In case you don’t have the right hardware, call 1-800-4MY-HOME (1-800-469-4663).
Benefits of the Craftsman Workbench
There’s a couple features about this workbench that really stood out to me.
- The workbench includes four, height-adjustable, feet so you can make sure it’s completely level. Another benefit, these feet put the workbench completely off the ground.
- The work-top surface is sealed to resist grease and oil, making it easy to clean.
- The steel supports are recessed making it easy to clamp down tools and materials.
- This workbench has no bounce / recoil. No matter how hard you pound on the work-top, it provides an unmovable workspace.

I do have one of these Craftsman benches and it’s a very sturdy bench. I also have the peg board that you can get with this and it completes it very nicely.
I would recomend this bench…….
