Artificial Christmas Tree from Home Depot Review
My apologies to those of you who believe artificial Christmas trees are blasphemous. I grew up with artificial trees because my mom and brother are allergic to real Christmas trees, so I never developed the appreciation for the real deal. One year, before Ethan and I were married, my roommates and I got a real tree, but again, I had no love. Too much mess and bother (who ever remembers to water the thing?). So our first Christmas married, my grandmother moved to a retirement community and gave us their very old, but very pretty artificial tree. It gave us two good years, but while we were taking it down last year, it broke.
7.5 ft Wesley Pine Slim Christmas Tree Review
In the past two weeks I spent a lot of time going to a variety of stores and searching on-line to find the right artificial tree for us. I wanted a pre-lit tree with white lights, no taller than 7.5 ft. I preferred to get a slim tree since our family room is not too large and it would make transporting and storing the tree easier. Target had some very nice trees, but were a tad more expensive and the “slim” tree had pine cones within the tree (which is not my style). Walmart had some great deals, but the trees did not appear as full as I would have liked. Finally, Home Depot had the tree for us.
The 7-1/2 Ft. Pre-Lit Wesley Pine was the perfect tree. It appears full, but is not too wide or consuming for our smaller size room. The lights remain lit even if one light burns out (a big plus for those of you who tackle replacing entire strands of lights every year). Also, the tree has two types of needles, giving the tree a more full, deep appearance. A small bonus was that the tree was not so heavy that I needed Ethan around to help me get it in and out of the car from the store. The only down-side of the tree is that there is no plug at the top of the tree to plug the tree topper into. Otherwise, I love the tree. At a low $119, it is a great buy!
- 7-1/2′ high, 41” diameter and 13.01 lbs.
- 1,000 tips
- 650 Surebright lights, where even if one bulb breaks, is damaged or loose, then the whole strand remains lit
- 2-year warranty
- MFG Model # : WEST1000SL650CL
- MFG Part # : WEST1000SL650CL
Right now, Home Depot is running some great internet deals on artificial trees and some even have free shipping (including this tree).
What do you think? What has been your experience with artificial trees? What makes your tree special?

We just bought this tree and we love it. We have a smaller home and our living room is cramped enough. This tree has enough presence without requiring a huge amount of area to put it up.
The only issue we had was we have a lighted tree topper and the cords on the tree were just a few inches shy to the end of the tree topper, so we had to run a green extension cord down the “trunk.”

SSM - I’m so glad you have also liked this tree, as we have! My only complaint was the same - that the tree topper would not plug in. Running a small extension cord is a good idea. I’ll try that.

Jocie,
We search hi and low about 4 years ago for a new tree because our $15.00 after Christmas Walmart special finally had had it after about 5 or 6 years. I wanted a blue spruce slim tree. We ended up finding our tree at Garlands which is no longer around. We did the live tree thing in the beginning when we go married, but I love to leave the tree up until January. They just don’t last and I could never make a decision. So we went artificial and I love it. I goes up pretty much right after Thanksgiving and stays up until mid January. I also have my real tree outside. It is a blue spruce, however, it has gotten to tall for me to decorate. It would take tons of light. I think 2 years ago I had 3 strands of 300 lights on it. That’s 900 light. It would probably take about 1200 or more now. Good choice.

Hey Lisa,
I’m glad to hear there are other artificial tree-lovers out there! I also enjoy my decorations as long as possible so the fake tree helps with that. Also, Ethan likes that he doesn’t have to re-string the lights every year.
