Skil Power Wrench Christmas Gift

ads>

My wife’s family enjoys a fun Christmas tradition called the White Elephant gift exchange. I think it’s a fun way to give and receive presents around the holidays without spending too much. And, it’s even more fun when people really get into it (which my wife’s family always does). Here’s more details about the gift exchange from Wikipedia.

Check out this finely crafted gift bag. This is the packaging of the gift I brought home from the gift exchange. Notice the duct tape exterior, plastic chain handle, and the clamps keeping the bag closed. In this case, the bag was a good indicator of what was inside.

Skil Cordless Power Wrench

Inside the bag was an awesome Skil Cordless Power Wrench!  I was really pumped to get this.

Power Wrench Features (according to Amazon.com)

  • 7.2V Li-Ion power.
  • Close Quarter ¼ square drive – Accepts standard sockets and driver bits.
  • Extremely compact design lets you work in tight spaces.
  • Lightweight – only 1.8 lbs.
  • All metal gear train – For durability and long life.
  • Torque output: Auto Mode 75 in-lbs :Manual Mode 400 in-lbs.
  • Charger can be mounted to a wall to save table space.

I’m really excited to try out this tool. I always seem to end up working with very limited space and this tool is small but still powerful enough to do the work.

What do you think? What new tool did you get?

    Way cool tool!!

Our favorite new tool is the B&D cordless “Alligator” lopper (http://www.blackanddecker.com/ProductGuide/Product-Details.aspx?ProductID=17795). It’s basically the love child of a lopper and a chainsaw, with cordless benefits. We got one for ourselves and a couple for gifts (the benefit of living near a B&D outlet!).

Great new site design – love this site!!!

Leslie, I just learned about the “alligator lopper” this Christmas when we were browsing around HD’s site. that thing looks like a mix between pruning sheers and a torture device. I want one! Definitely let us know how it turns out!

We play that same game with the entire family and we also do this at work however your gift ended up being a lot better than mine. Want to trade? lol

@Rhonda, I was surprised at how many quality gifts there were. That made it easy to come home with a winner.

@Leslie, I’d love to see some pictures of the “lopper” in action!

Fred, we’ve only used it once so far but I can already tell you that I LOVE it.

Ethan, here’s the B&D video of the lopper in action:

    http://www.blackanddecker.com/BDConsumer_Images/vtours/tours/alligator_lopper/looper_final.htm

We got the cordless one, and chopped everything that needed to be cut in a little over 1/2 hour and it was still going strong. We’ve got a few other B&D 18v tools, so I just bought a charger that holds four batteries and cuts each one back to a trickle charge once they’re fully charged.

The things I love most about the Alligator, compared to a small chain saw, are that what you’re cutting doesn’t have to be firmly attached to something or on the ground in order to cut through it (fantastic for cutting the long but thin branches that fall from our maples into more manageable lengths), and that it just feels a LOT safer to me than a chain saw – I was able to get some things that were in locations I would have been very hesitant to approach with a chain saw, either because of the risk of it bouncing off or sawing through and hitting something that would be easily damaged, or because it was higher up or at an angle that would have felt risky to ME with a regular chain saw.

Please ignore this post – just seeing if my new “gravatar” works!

Looks like your gravatar is up and running. Mine is still having issues… Ethan’s is working (they don’t like my pic for some reason!!!) oh well.

Thanks for the vid on the alli-lopper… I would LOVE to try one of these out.
