Sorry for the Extended Down Time

Hi folks,

If you tried to access the server this weekend, chances are, you found us offline for a considerable period.  We’re very sorry for that.  On Saturday, we experienced significant problems with a web server and database threading issue that hung the system for more than 9 hours until we figured it out.  On Sunday, some of the critical network hardware at our hosting facility went down.  We’re considering switching hosts as these issues have recurred several times over the last year.

Thanks so much for your frequent readership, comments, and e-mails.  Trust us when we say you make this site really fun for us, and we’re so glad you drop by so often.

    Blue Host is great….so far no problems!!

    Funny, I was just going to ask who you were with. Like Todd, we’ve got Blue Host but we have had a couple issues. Some of which I know were caused by bad plug-ins on our part, though.

    Sorry to hear of the issue. Glad you’re back up and running!

    We’re with Dreamhost… I’m pretty sure that the issue on Saturday was our fault (plugin problem), but Sunday was definitely Dreamhost’s. I find they’re down for about 4-6 hours once every 7-8 weeks… It’s definitely annoying.
