DIY Wine Box Giveaway!

DIY Wine Box Giveaway!

I don’t know about you, but I like my wine in a box. I like it even better when it has a pretty DIY wine box to help class-it-up on my counter. Can I get an “amen!” I realize boxed wine is for the lushes, or maybe just us cheap-skates, but I love me some boxed wine. Ethan came up with this idea after several parties when I poured boxed wine into a glass carafe to hide the cheap, gaudy nature of my wine. This idea was the birth of a whole new love and appreciation for Ethan! The first boxed wine holder Ethan made was...

Hanging Succulent Garden / Terrarium

I know, you are shocked to see me blogging about a succulent garden wall hanging…really a mason jar terrarium. I’m pretty shocked myself. Kim is our resident gardener and I prefer my plants to be of the plastic variety. Its pretty hard to kill a plastic plant, although if anyone could do it, it would be me and my girls! I gave gardening a try a few weeks ago when I was asked  to partner with Home Depot on their Do-It-Herself Workshop: Succulent Gardens Inspired by Pinterest. In addition to sharing this succulent garden...

My Favorite Desk Accessory: A Hot Glue Gun Holder

Awhile ago I asked Ethan to make me a hot glue gun holder and he made it seem effortless! The glue gun holder has become, by far, my craft desk accessory. It’s not only functional, but super pretty! Be sure to check out Ethan’s original glue gun holder tutorial on the main OPC site for the full details on making your own. Did I mention, I asked Ethan to make me a hot glue gun holder? When Ethan shared this on OPC, some guys wondered why I needed a glue gun holder. To them, maybe it seemed a little excessive…until I...

More Washi Crafts Than You Ever Wanted!

Last month, my Ladies Craft Night with my in-real-life bloggy friend, Liz from Naptime Decorator, was all about Washi Tape! I had not yet bought into the washi tape craze, but I was excited to give it a try. I ended up doing 3 small projects (plus two at home): washi tape mirror, frame, wooden letter, clothes pin art display, and repurposed tin can. In addition to my washi tape crafts, I figured I would also share some of my favorite washi tape crafts I’ve seen around the web! What is Washi Tape? Washi tape has the feel, texture,...

Easter/Spring Mantel: Bunnies and Pastels

This past year, I have tried to join the cool kids in making seasonal mantels. This is my very first Easter mantel and honestly, I’ve been so busy that I didn’t put too much time into it. Haha! All in all, it turned out kinda cute, plus I only spent about $20 in total! I used a couple of my 5 Minutes or Less Dollar Store Easter projects, plus a few other little crafts I made just for this mantel. My theme was bunnies and pastels – okay, not really a theme, it just ended being that way. Yeah, I’m fancy, and I know...

$5 Frame Redesign!

$5 Frame Redesign!

Since repainting our living room, the walls have remained bare. Mostly because I wasn’t sure what to do, but also because art and wall decor are sooooo expensive. But then, last week, I couldn’t sleep thinking about all my current projects, and it occurred to me that I might be able to use some of the old decor in a new way. What was there to lose? Otherwise, it would all go to GoodWill, so I might as well give it a shot. After all, repurposing and spicing up old stuff on the cheap kinda rocks!Spray Paint Talk Once I made...

Upcycled Goodwill Art
Jocie | February 26, 2013

Editor’s Note: I made this beautiful DIY Button Heart canvas for our bedroom from an up-cycled Goodwill Canvas for only a couple of dollars! This post originally ran early in 2012 but the art still hangs on our bedroom wall and is one my favorite pieces in our room. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!Several months ago when I started our bedroom makeover, I went to our local Goodwill looking for decor items to repurpose and upcycle. I didn’t find much because most things were WAY over-priced, but I did find three canvases...
