I had in my mind for a long time now to get rid of these Ikea wine glasses that don’t fit in our dishwasher and get stemless wine glasses. But I had always been held back by the idea that guests would no longer be able to tell their drinks apart with wine glass charms. Then I remembered back to my dad’s stained glass projects and that he often used glass etching cream to create designs. Dad…what a genius! So after a quick phone consultation with my Dad and a trip to Hobby Lobby and Michael’s, I got started! If...
Eat, Pray, Love…Or Just EAT! I never read the book or saw the movie, but it is a cute saying. But in my kitchen, I simplified it to just eating. I do pray before I eat and I do love to eat, so really EAT sums it up! lol. As my efforts to redesign my kitchen moved forward, I bought wooden letters at Joann’s 50% off to spell eat. Then I bought a really roughed up chalkboard for a dollar at a yard sale….and then I got to work! The wooden letters were meant to be the simplest project for the kitchen. Buy the letters. Paint...

Awhile ago, my crafty (and photographer) friend, Ruth showed me a fabric tutu she made for her daughter, and OMG was it cute! It was made the same way I made Lucy’s birthday tutu last year but made of fabric scraps instead of tulle. It was so simple and easy. Not as cheap as a tulle tutu but I could have made it for cheaper if I had shopped the clearance isles instead of just picking my favs. I made three skirts, one for Lucy, one for Izzie, and one for Izzie’s BFF for about $40 – about $13 each. These would make wonderful...

Before you read my easiest, almost most ridiculous post ever, just a reminder to visit our link party tomorrow, see some great featured projects and find out who won the $25 Hobby Lobby Gift Card!Last year, I made a quick message board to put next to the door to write sweet notes between me and Ethan, or reminders, whatever. Usually, the same “love note” sits for a couple of months while visitors come in and write sassy additions like “gag me” or vomit sounds. Or sometimes, people like my sister write “I...

Its been awhile since I did any work on my kitchen redesign…I’ve been distracted by fall decorations, link parties, and yard sale-ing. Well, I did paint some owls last week that I thought I was going to put over the kitchen sink. They are super cute but don’t look so great on the chevrons, and they are too small for the space. After I put aside the owls, I was at a loss for what to put over the sink. I had looked for about a month for a large plate or several small plates but couldn’t find any I liked or were...

Hi. My name is Jocie, and I love owls. Okay, so I have admitted I have an owl problem, but I bet you may too! This past weekend, when I was yard sale-ing with my friend, Kellie I found these amazing (old) owls for the wall. They were being sold by this very sweet older couple who, if I weren’t so eager to find more yard sale deals, I could have stayed and hung out with them all day. When I asked the older gentleman how much the owls cost he said,”I don’t know, we’ll have to ask my cashier.” wink wink. His...
If you follow us on Facebook, you may have seen that I went yard sale-ing with a friend this past Saturday. It is by far one of my favorite things to do. What’s not to love? Cheap prices+friends+no kids = one happy mama! Last summer, I tried to take the girls a few times (since Ethan is often busy on Saturday mornings with house stuff or blog work), but it was a bit of a disaster. Not to mention buckling the kids in and out of seat belts at every stop really slowed things down. So, I put this date on Ethan’s calendar and I...

Like lots of my posts start….”When trolling pinterest,” I came across these beautiful pottery leaf bowls. They were definitely professional and glazed, but I thought to myself – I can make a cute knock-off and include the kids in the fun. While we can’t eat out of the bowls or wash them, they do make very elegant decor and a great gift. We took one to Nana last week and she loved. It now is living on her coffee table and Izzie will go wild when she visits and see her work being displayed! Also, this is a...

Last week you may have read that after 31 years, I decided to act like a grown up and create my first fall mantel. Yeah, so every other woman in my family has been doing it forever, and yeah, it’s not that hard, but it sure did feel like kinda a big deal. I guess it wasn’t that hard, and it does look really cute. Burlap is kinda the essence of fall…okay, maybe not the essence. Most would say that pumpkin and football are the essence of fall, but burlap is so hot right now. So I wanted to incorporate burlap into my mantel...

Growing up, my mom and grandmother always changed their mantle decor for every season or holiday. In addition to changing the mantle, they both changed up the flags or wind socks, wreaths for the door, and knick knacks for the bathrooms and entry table. Sometimes they would even exchange decor between the house to spruce things up. Not a bad idea. Since buying our home 6 years ago, I occasionally change up the wreath on my door, but usually I just forget until someone asks why I have a wreath of robin eggs on my door at Halloween. (that...
