Fall Burlap Mantel Bunting/Banner

Fall Burlap Mantel Bunting/Banner

Growing up, my mom and grandmother always changed their mantle decor for every season or holiday. In addition to changing the mantle, they both changed up the flags or wind socks, wreaths for the door, and knick knacks for the bathrooms and entry table. Sometimes they would even exchange decor between the house to spruce things up. Not a bad idea. Since buying our home 6 years ago, I occasionally change up the wreath on my door, but usually I just forget until someone asks why I have a wreath of robin eggs on my door at Halloween. (that...

Children’s Handprint Art Based on Micah 6:8

I m so excited to share with you my children’s canvas and decor based on Micah 6:8! Over the past week, I worked hard to spruce up and make the space more casual and kid oriented. Izzie (my three-year old) and I made two canvases to put in the dining room, above her small, wooden table. I had thought I would stop there, but once I hung them it seemed too small on the wall.So I went through my pins, looking for ideas of what to do on the third canvas. I found really precious idea, based on Micah 6:8 – “And what does...

Fingerprint Tree Canvas

If you’ve been following along in the last week, you know that I have been a bit obsessed with redesigning our dining room to better organize and display our kid crafts and learning materials. What started as a simple idea got a bit out of hand, but it’s looking pretty fabulous! It started with sprucing up a 9 cube ClosetMaid organizer using scrapbook paper. Then Izzie and I created a 16×20 canvas using painter’s tape and acrylics. And now I present to you the second of the three canvases – a tree! Okay,...

How to Paint a Canvas Using Painter’s Tape and an X-Acto Blade

After organizing our kid crafts and learning materials last week, I went on a mission to decorate and craft with the kids. We had a blast, and now Izzie is a straight-up craft addict now. On friday, we did three crafts plus preschool work and she was begging for more. Who could blame her, though? Crafting rocks! With all the decorating and crafting I did with Izzie last week, the next week or two will be dedicated to kid-friendly crafts you can do with your kids. Feel free to write in with your own ideas or additions – we love...

How to Personalize ClosetMaid Organizers
Jocie | September 4, 2012

I love me some Niecy Nash! And let me just say, she would not be pleased with my lack of organization and my shameful clutter. Okay, maybe it’s not horrible, but definitely NOT pretty! As Izzie and Lucy have gotten older, our collection of crayons, markers, glue, paint, coloring books, and preschool workbooks has out grown our ability to store it. So, I was forced to lock it up and make a change! Seriously, don’t judge me…I was using a beautiful ceramic planter to hold crayons and markers. (Probably because I can’t...

Gettin’ Scrappy with My Frames!

Gettin’ Scrappy with My Frames!

Some of our closest friends recently hosted a birthday party for their daughter, who was turning one. When I asked what she needed, the mom said that she didn’t really need anything but could always use a little extra decor in the nursery. Their daughter has a beautiful and chic nursery decorated with dark woods and elegant touches of brown and pink. As I racked my brain on what to make, I decided to use the same concept I have used before in making decorative owls and an elephant door stop. I didn’t have much time to make...

Crafting in the Rainforest … at VBS!

Crafting in the Rainforest … at VBS!

Last week, I led crafts for our church’s Vacation Bible School (VBS). I was asked to lead crafts because of my obvious love of crafting, and I hesitantly said yes. I haven’t been to a VBS since I was in 5th grade, and I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. I was given an amazing organizer, Jolena who pulled together all the supplies once I picked the crafts. Then, for the week of VBS. I had an awesome team of 4 women plus 3 teen girls to lead crafts for 160 kids. It was one exhausting week but soooo much fun!As...
