Easy, Naptime Vanity Makeover!

Its been a bit quiet around here recently. We’ve been super busy and my time has been less on DIY & blogging and more on family – its been good! But I have been itching for this project awhile now and am excited to reveal my new powder to you in bits. First up: Vanity Makeover!!!I hadn’t originally planned to even do this, but I had some leftover Metal FX Con-Tact paper from another project (stay tuned or check me, jocieopc out on Instagram for a few sneak peaks). Rhonna Designs Inspired Painted Chair

Who doesn’t love a painted chair? I mean, I obviously do…I’ve painted my dining room chairs multiple times and love a good excuse to make a colorful change!Well, my neighbor, who may be a hoarder, was getting rid of this children’s wooden chair a year (probably longer) ago and offered it to me. At the same time, she gave me some vintage metal chairs that I rehabbed and gave to a friend. The wooden chair had good bones and I would have loved to keep it wood toned, but there was just too much damage and staining.Anyway,...

Love, Kisses & Valentine Wishes

I have never gotten too much into decorating for Valentine’s Day, largely because my girls’ birthdays are on January 24th and February 11th. I’m usually so wrapped up in party planning and birthday decorating, Valentine’s Day is a bit much. But last year, Ethan and I cut some pallets and made some cheap art for the occasion. Check out our Pallets 101 video tutorial on how to cut pallets and assemble art. When planning out my pallets, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do, so I took to Pinterest,...

Upcycled Chalkboard Clock DIY with Katie!

Hi there OPC Readers! It’s Katie from Upcycled Treasures and today I will be sharing how I upcycled an old side table into a chalkboard clock DIY style.A clock wasn’t my first intention for this $4 thrift store find I purchased nearly a year ago. However, being that only parts of the table were made of real wood, I decided to paint it with primer, followed by paint, not realizing that the primer needed more time to cure. The end result? Paint that peeled right off. Woops. At least it stuck to the table top. I also later...

Gold & Gray Gallery Wall: My Living Room Progress

My gallery wall is finally complete and, while I won’t say I am done with the living room, it is feeling more and more what I want it to be!When I’ve shown you my living room in the past, I usually leave this small corner out of the pictures. Its always been a bit drab and undecorated. The buffet has always been there, but not much on the walls. When you walk in our front door and look to the right, this is the view. On the left side of the door is the dining room and a small hallway and stairwell divide the two. At the bottom...

Holiday Home Tour

You probably have seen of my Christmas crafts over the last month as I have posted about them, but I wanted to show you that I really do use them! I guess the best place to start is our tree! Its fake. Mainly because we are lazy and I tend to kill all living things that don’t...

How to Sew a Pillow with Pizzazz!

Ever wonder how to sew a pillow? Well, I’m super excited to show you these pillows I made for a friend last year including how to sew a basic pillow, how to add a stencil and fabric flower, and how to sew a union jack pillow. This article originally ran in December 2012.The Basic PillowI first folded the ironed fabric in half so that the outside of the fabric was turned in on itself. In this picture, I was cutting and making a pillow out of upholstery fabric. You will see that the finished sides are facing in to each other. I...
