Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Chairs…AGAIN!

Sometimes, I make more work for myself and these Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Chairs are the perfect example. One set of chairs, 3 different styles. I can’t wait to hear what you think? Plus, you get to see how my dining room is coming along! In case you missed the story first time around….we inherited these chairs that Ethan’s grandfather built. Beautiful chairs but badly damaged veneer. Ethan and I went back and forth about what to do with the chairs (he was uncharacteristically opinionated). We finally compromised on keeping...

My Kitchen Makeover: Yellow & Gray!

This post on my kitchen makeover originally ran on One Project Closer in April 2013 but I wanted to share it with those who are new to us! Thank you for reading and I’m so happy to have you all!“Before” Kitchen In June 2012, I began the makeover of my kitchen….yes, it took me 9 months. It wasn’t that big of a makeover, but I got a bit distracted and anxious to start new projects. The kitchen makeover started because, while I have a 7 year old kitchen, the design and feel was darker and more formal than my...

Glass Painting Ideas with an Antique Window

I know, I know… I love creative glass painting ideas, and I’ve had this one in the works for several months!  This was made with a similar method to my nautical frame using glass paint pens but this project was my original concept/hope for the method.I was inspired to use a window and paint when I saw something similar at the Hometalk meetup at Lucketts. That was forever ago, I know. But I couldn’t find a window without panes for a long time. I finally found one at Second Chance…its similar to the Habitat...

My Painted Hallway Table Makeover

My Painted Hallway Table Makeover

My grandmother gave me this hallway table 7 years ago when she moved and it has sat in our entry hallway ever since…and not looking good, I might add. But this week, she got a much-needed makeover and now looks pretty eff-ing amazing. Here’s how the table came to us. It was super rickety and wobbly, not to mention scratched up. My grandmother came a few months ago and was shocked that we had kept it all these years since it came in such bad repair.Fortunately, the table has sat in a somewhat dark hallway that I haven’t...

5 Minutes or Less: Mirror Makeover

I have been on a serious living room kick in the past few weeks, including this fab five-minute mirror makeover. Back before I painted, here was the living room. Lots of golds and browns – very warm and cozy. I didn’t hate it, but was ready for a change and was eager to use more blues.I did paint the room an icy blue and had planned to use a lot of neutrals and whites in the room. You know that white washed thing is so popular right now. But, in reality, it’s not totally me. I like adding a little color with...

Joining the Cool Kids: Painted Mason Jars with Flowers!

I know, I know, all the cool kids are doing painted mason jars with flowers these days. So I didn’t create anything original, but I do love them and wanted to share them with you.I was inspired by Linda from It All Started With Paint - she paints mason jars with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, then distresses them. Talk about fabulous! If you don’t want to make your own, go visit her Etsy shop to buy a set of painted mason jars! I didn’t use ASCP on my jars, although I do love Chalk Paint and made a painted mason jar...

My Almost FREE DIY Scrap Wood Wall Art

My Almost FREE DIY Scrap Wood Wall Art

I know, you must be shocked it’s not a pallet, but it is an almost free scrap wood wall art! Yet again, Ethan has blown my expectations out of the water and together we made the most fabulous project yet (maybe with the exception of our PB-inspired dining room table).I started the makeover of our living room about a year ago (no joke) and have changed course a few times. Originally, I was going to add pops of color, including yellow, so I painted these frames on the cheap. They look pretty but I just haven’t been happy with...
