Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Chairs…AGAIN!

This Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Chairs post originally ran in October 2013, but to this date, still remains one of my favorite projects. I am proud to report it has held up to two toddlers, lots of goo, and more than their share of abuse. Sometimes, I make more work for myself and these Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Chairs are the perfect example. One set of chairs, 3 different styles. I can’t wait to hear what you think? Plus, you get to see how my dining room is coming along! In case you missed the story first time around….we inherited...

Joining the Cool Kids: Painted Mason Jars with Flowers!

This post on Painted Mason Jars with Flowers originally ran on July 2013 but still remains one of my favorite mantel pieces. If you enjoy it, be sure to check out my other DIY stuff! I know, I know, all the cool kids are doing painted mason jars with flowers these days. So I didn’t create anything original, but I do love them and wanted to share them with you.I was inspired by Linda from It All Started With Paint - she paints mason jars with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, then distresses them. Talk about fabulous! If you don’t...

$5 Spray Paint Scooter Makeover!

$5 Spray Paint Scooter Makeover!

Izzie recently used her allowance money to buy a razor scooter from an old co-worker on mine, after which Lucy was very sad she didn’t have a new scooter too! In all fairness, Lucy’s scooter was pretty old and beat up. It was Izzie’s first and spent the Spring, Summer, and Fall sitting in our yard. Can you tell it used to be a princess scooter?I figured, what’s the worst that could happen? The scooter certainly couldn’t look any worse. I started by taping off the wheels and handles with painter’s...

Bathroom Makeover with Con-Tact Paper

Last week, you may have seen my vanity makeover using Con-tact Paper and I said that there was more to come, and sure enough, there is. Maybe I went a little crazy with the Con-tact Paper, but I really love it!! Without Further ado, here’s my bathroom Makeover with Con-tact Paper! Here’s how the bathroom started. I painted it green (one of my favorite colors) about 8 years ago when we moved into the house and we upgraded the floors and vanity.Last week, I stopped by Home Depot and made some impulsive paint choices: Swiss...

Easy, Naptime Vanity Makeover!

Its been a bit quiet around here recently. We’ve been super busy and my time has been less on DIY & blogging and more on family – its been good! But I have been itching for this project awhile now and am excited to reveal my new powder to you in bits. First up: Vanity Makeover!!!I hadn’t originally planned to even do this, but I had some leftover Metal FX Con-Tact paper from another project (stay tuned or check me, jocieopc out on Instagram for a few sneak peaks). Hanging Succulent Terrarium / Garden

Hanging Succulent Terrarium / Garden

I know, you are shocked to see me blogging about a succulent garden wall hanging…really a mason jar terrarium. I’m pretty shocked myself. Kim is our resident gardener and I prefer my plants to be of the plastic variety. Its pretty hard to kill a plastic plant, although if anyone could do it, it would be me and my girls! I gave gardening a try a few weeks ago when I was asked  to partner with Home Depot on their Do-It-Herself Workshop: Succulent Gardens Inspired by Pinterest. In addition to sharing this succulent garden...

Rhonna Designs Inspired Painted Chair

Who doesn’t love a painted chair? I mean, I obviously do…I’ve painted my dining room chairs multiple times and love a good excuse to make a colorful change!Well, my neighbor, who may be a hoarder, was getting rid of this children’s wooden chair a year (probably longer) ago and offered it to me. At the same time, she gave me some vintage metal chairs that I rehabbed and gave to a friend. The wooden chair had good bones and I would have loved to keep it wood toned, but there was just too much damage and staining.Anyway,...

Throw a Winter Birthday Party without Breaking the Bank!

Throw a Winter Birthday Party without Breaking the Bank!

Boy, is it hard to come up with toddler birthday party ideas for winter! Lucy’s birthday is at the end of January and Izzie’s at the beginning of February, and every year it gets harder to host parties. Some years my mom has hosted. Other years, I have just had a few toddlers over to the house on a weekday so it cuts down on the amount of people (no husbands or siblings). Our house is just to small for a big party. But hosting out of the home is so expensive! But this year I resolved to not have parties in the house and not...

DIY Birch Branch Jewelry Box

DIY Birch Branch Jewelry Box

Sometimes the fun and messy world of creative projects means needing to remove my wedding ring. In fact I once left my ring on underneath my gloves while staining some wood, but when I went to clean the brush I was no longer wearing the gloves, and the stain sorta dripped down onto my ring. Yikes! I nearly had a heart attack, but luckily it was nothing a little vinegar and a baking soda couldn’t fix up.I wanted a special place to store my rings and being that I’m all about rustic decor, I decided a birch branch jewelry box...
