How to Apply Wall Decals with Royal Designs Studio

Royal Designs Studio sent me these decals for free in addition to money towards future purchases, as a part of their holiday campaign. However, opinions and tips are 100% mine.Wallternatives by Royal Designs Studio made my Thanksgiving decorating super easy this year with their Fall Phrases Removeable Wall Decal Set! I’ve put up decal before in the past, and WOW was it a headache. They often bubble or go on, only to realize that it’s crooked. But not these decals! They are so thick that I did not have them bubble...

How to Kill Bugs in Wood: My FREE Decorative Logs

With our new house and beautiful white brick fireplace, I really wanted to add some decorative logs to the fireplace decor. If you saw my post yesterday on my Thanksgiving Mantel, you saw these beautiful logs in action. I just wasn’t sure where to get these pretty logs I see in magazines and amazing blogger homes. So I put it on my personal FB page, asking my local friends where I could find pretty, round logs. Some people suggested an arborist or tree cutter. But my sweet brother-in-law, Chris offered me wood from their backyard,...

DIY Thanksgiving Mantel: Gold & Rustic

FREE was the name of the game for this year’s DIY Thanksgiving Mantel! It doesn’t get much better than that, right? Tell me what you recognize and where I had it in the old house, for extra bonus points! I tried to repurpose or move around decor that I already had on hand, or find things in nature to incorporate, like the logs and pine cones. My children, also often seen in the wild, enjoyed hopping in the pics, but they didn’t make the cut. haha So let me give you the tour… This is one of my favorite pictures...

The Teal Pumpkin Project: Allergy Safe & Real Food Approved!

I realize that almost every blogger in the world has already moved on the Christmas projects and posted about Halloween months ago. But I’m a bit behind this year and sorta operating on a minute by minute basis. Have you heard about The Teal Pumpkin Project, promoted by FARE, Food Allergy Research & Education? The idea is to paint a pumpkin teal and put it on your porch, signaling to Trick or Treaters that your home is providing non-food/candy options for kids that have food allergies. Pretty cool, right?! Before I even heard...

DIY Stencil Wall with Royal Design Studio

Who has two thumbs and loves a DIY stencil wall? This girl! We’ve now been in our new home for about 2 weeks. I tell ya, we had the easy life before. The town home we lived in for the last 9 years was completely updated, decorated the way I like, and our honey-do list was pretty short. Well, now the list is a mile long and no end in sight. But on the upside, its been a lot of fun taking the house from drab to fab. No joke, the Builder Beige walls are killing me. Before we even moved, this was the first painting project I planned...

#OPCmove2014
Jocie | October 8, 2014

If you’ve been following along on Facebook and Instagram, you have already heard, but WE MOVED!  In some ways it was bittersweet. We loved our town home – we moved in almost 9 years ago, when we were married. We poured our hearts (and sweat) into making it ours. Both our girls were born there. And we built amazing friendships with our neighbors. Many summer nights, we sat outside, watching the kids play, eating pizza and having a drink. Photo credit: Chris Paulis Photography It was so hard to say goodbye, to the friends...

Need some great fall bridal shower ideas? Well, one of my really friends, Christy (old roomie from after college but before I got married) got married last year to a really amazing guy, which is only fitting since she is a really amazing woman. I helped throw a shower in her honor, along with several of the other bridesmaids. We wanted to pay homage to her fall wedding with lots of pumpkins, candles, fall flowers, burlap, and fall foods! We all had a wonderful time, and most of all, I hope she felt really loved and celebrated.  *This...

Homemade Teacher Gifts: Easy Wood Sign Tutorial

Izzie is about to start Kindergarten this year and I was reminded of some of my favorite teacher gifts from preschool last year, including this easy wood sign tutorial. We gave these to her teachers at the holidays and it brought me such joy to see them hanging in the classroom the rest of the year!Teachers get tons and tons of gifts through the years, so I was unsure how to make it personal and also not give them just another gift card, soap, or cookie. The morning of craft night, I decided to go with my strengths and paint wooden signs...
