Throw a Winter Birthday Party without Breaking the Bank!

Throw a Winter Birthday Party without Breaking the Bank!

Boy, is it hard to come up with toddler birthday party ideas for winter! Lucy’s birthday is at the end of January and Izzie’s at the beginning of February, and every year it gets harder to host parties. Some years my mom has hosted. Other years, I have just had a few toddlers over to the house on a weekday so it cuts down on the amount of people (no husbands or siblings). Our house is just to small for a big party. But hosting out of the home is so expensive! But this year I resolved to not have parties in the house and not...

Our Florida Vacation 2013

Well, we’re back from our Florida vacation (and Disney)! I know this isn’t the usual DIY project or craft, but we had such a wonderful time, I wanted to share it with you!We drove (yes, drove) 14 hours overnight from Baltimore, MD, caravan-ing with my sister and her family, including her husband, four girls, and one friend. The drive was much smoother than expected, and Ethan was a champ to do most of the driving! We stayed at Mystic Dunes, a resort very close to Disney complete with lots of pools, a water slide, and mini-golf....

Family Masterpieces: Our Art Wall for Kids

Everyone needs their own art wall for kids to display their masterpieces. Sure, they aren’t masterpieces to everyone else, but they definitely are to us. Yeah, we love the scribbles, the words no one can read but us, the excess of pink and purple, the crusted boogers in the lower corner…we love it all. Slowly our art wall has grown. At first, we just hung the pictures (ahem, I mean, masterpieces) on the fridge. That got old pretty quick. Between the alphabet magnets, barnyard animals magnets, and all the art work, it looks...

Izzie’s BRAVE 4th Birthday Party

Our girls, Izzie and Lucy are almost exactly 2 years apart in age – Izzie was born on February 11th and Lucy on January 24th. We just threw Lucy’s Bug party two weeks ago and then threw Izzie’s Brave party on Tuesday. So much fun but super intense. One day maybe we will have combined birthday parties…of maybe I will just need to tone down the parties! lol.The Decorations Izzie was insistent she wanted a “Merida” party ever since we bought the movie in November. After all, she does look just like Merida....

Lucy’s 2nd Birthday Bug Party

Tuesday morning we hosted a bug party in honor of Lucy’s 2nd birthday party! This may have been my favorite party theme yet, and I didn’t even spend very much. Invitations I made these super cute invitations for the party using my printer and Silhouette. They turned out adorable and I designed it myself (no Pinterest inspiration here! lol). The downside – I made them a weird size so I didn’t have any envelopes to mail them. Oops. So I sent an email to the moms and gave them the invitation AT the party! #failDecorations Awhile...

Two Years Ago Today

Two Years Ago Today

Two years ago today, our beautiful Lucy Joyous came into the world. Our first, Izzie is a force of nature (like her Mama) Рintense, passionate, loud, loves people and attention. From her first cry, we knew Lucy was different. She gave her cry, and then stopped to take in the world. Through blurry eyes, she gazed at her Daddy, the doctors and nurses who delivered her, and finally her Mommy. We were both so exhausted that we snuggled and dozed in and out of consciousness. Here we are at the hospital the moment Izzie and Lucy first...

Bugging Out with Lulu

Bugging Out with Lulu

My youngest daughter, Lucy (affectionately called Lulu) will be turning 2 on Thursday! Wow! She has gotten to be such a big girl, and one with strong opinions, like her Mama. She is a BIG fan of bumblebees, much to the thanks of the Laurie Berkner “Buzz Buzz” song. So this year’s birthday theme will be BUGS. Since Lulu doesn’t like big crowds, we’re having a pretty small party with just a few friends. In some ways, this makes it easy for me to go totally overboard, just on a smaller scale. lol. In addition...

My Posh Little Girls: Pearl and Ribbon Necklaces

I LOVE having two girls, mainly because I love hair, makeup, nails, clothes…and of course, jewelry. My girls are almost 2 and 4, so everything is scaled down to Target, Old Navy, and dollar section jewelry (I don’t think its worth it to buy expensive stuff and have it ruined, broken, lost, etc). Over the past 4 years, I have made TONS of hair bows, headbands, flower embellishments, and finally and most recently, I undertook making jewelry for them. *Make sure and keep reading to find out how to get a Jocie Original for FREE!*I...
