Ever since we were little, one of the most desired desserts in our family has been my mom’s graham cracker treats. Yes, that is their official name! It’s probably the easiest thing my mom makes, but it is considered a special treat when mom makes them. You also have to grab ‘em quick because they don’t last long. I made them this week for my friend, Colleen’s Holiday Treat party but these nuggets of awesomeness are good year-round! Graham Cracker TreatsMy mom actually suggested I share this recipe with...

I love pumpkin and I love dessert. A lot. This fall I have been concocting lots of different recipes and desserts using pumpkin. Some have been good and some have been not so good. This one falls into the amazing category.I made it for the first time a couple of weeks ago when we had some friends over to play cards, and it was a big hit! At the time, I posted on FB about it and many people asked that I share the recipe. Life got busy and I forgot about it. I made it again this past weekend for our family birthday get-together and everyone...
I love, love, love zucchini bread and always crave after it when my sister makes up a batch. She is the ultimate baker and also has a large garden – she and my mom are the homemakers I aspire to be! This year I decided to make zucchini bread myself since Izzie and Lucy love muffins for breakfast and I thought zucchini bread must be healthier than other alternatives.Boy, was I wrong. I looked all over the web for a healthy recipe and was shocked to find that most called for a WHOLE CUP OF OIL! Am I completely naive or do I just...

Awhile ago my girlfriends, Ruth and Nicole, and I went to the Melting Pot and, as always, I got a Caesar salad along with the yummy fondue. The Melting Pot has the most amazing Caesar salad EVER because they put parmesan encrusted pine nuts on top. The pine nuts have a sweet taste along with the parmesan, adding crunch and flavor to the salad. Since The Melting Pot is a rare treat, I searched for recipes to make my own and couldn’t find one. So here is my take on it! Once you try these on your salad you won’t ever go back...
A couple of years ago, a friend of mine gave me a recipe for granola bars that was SUPER yummy, plus it was more healthy and hearty than most store-bought granola bars. Recently, I decided to adapt the recipe to make granola for cereal and yogurt, and it has been a hit. I’m not usually a fan of almonds or coconut (in fact, I usually hate coconut), but both flavors are very light and add to the heartiness of the granola. Even my daughters, ages 1 and 3, LOVE it and eat it most mornings either plain, with cereal, or on yogurt. I love...

Last week, you saw our wine and beer cupcakes, and this week I wanted to share the cookies that went with our Purple and Zebra Print theme. This was a fun cookie to make with Izzie – she really enjoyed unwrapping the candies, adding the ingredients, and pushing the Hugs onto the cookies. Overall, it was a quick and fun activity for Izzie and me while Lucy napped!Hershey’s Raspberry Hugs Cookies1 bag Hershey Raspberry Hugs 1 stick of butter 1/2 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2-1/4 cups all...

If you follow us on Facebook, you might have seen a small preview of Lucy’s One Year “Happy Hour” Celebration. (My longer post on the whole party is coming soon!) In keeping with the theme, I made cupcakes with Blue Moon Beer and Red Diamond Merlot for the adults. About a year ago, I saw a recipe for Boxed Wine Cupcakes, and then more recently I saw a from-scratch Recipe for Blue Moon cupcakes on Pinterest. I had to modify these recipes a bit to make them work for me, but they still turned out great! I’m going...

As some of you may know, I am a margarita girl. Its my go-to drink, and I usually determine my favorite restaurant based on the quality of their margaritas. Over the years, I have gone through several favorite margarita recipes. My first love was a full flavored lime recipe kept in the freezer after making and served directly out of the freezer. Then, I discovered a blended lime recipe that was sweeter and less intense on the lime flavor, definitely loved by some of my less lime-crazy friends. Recently, I was playing around on Pinterest...
