Tropic Vanity by American Standard

Tropic Vanity by American Standard

by Ethan Hagan (email Ethan) | June 8, 2010 | No Comments Yet »

The vanity we selected for our bathroom renovation is from the Tropic Collection by American Standard. It’s a beautiful traditional style vanity with “Asian flair”.

Tropic Vanity

American Standard has been in the business of making quality bathroom and kitchen products for over 130 years. They set themselves apart from the competition with high performance toilets, LEED certified water efficient products, and industry-leading warranties.

Tropic Vanity Review

Selecting this vanity was an easy choice. It compliments our existing style and need for durable furniture and decor (important with small children).

Style:
Tropic VanityThe distressed Nutmeg finish immediately caught our attention as we are rarely drawn to lighter wood tones. This vanity features a deep color without appearing cold- as some modern finishes can. It’s actually not quite as ruddy as the picture to the right.

The vanity shape is a simple but balanced design, using shape to create interest. The upper panel, which appears flat in the picture, actually curves out, matching the contour of the sink. The doors feature hidden hinges and an intricate Rattan applique. The combination of varying shapes and clean lines with Asian styling helps create a beautiful design without unnecessary ornamentation.

Construction:
American Standard used poplar solids and birch veneers to create a very durable and solid vanity. When you feel how heavy and sturdy this vanity is, you know it will last for many years.

Nominal Dimensions:

  • 24″ x 19.5″ (737mm x 508mm)
  • 34.5″ (876mm) height

Instructions
I appreciate that American Standard includes well written instructions. It’s a typical installation but simple instructions make for a handy reference.

What do you think? What’s your experience with American Standard?
