2011 Before & After Vote for the Best Submission

September 23, 2011 | by Ethan (email) |

Bum-Bada-Da! It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for- the 2011 Before & After vote! Summer is at an end, and so is our Before & After series. All that’s left is to select the grand prize winner!

Every year we have some truly fabulous before and after stories, and I’m very grateful to everyone who helped make this year another success. All together, we donated $1300 to Habitat for Humanity on behalf of our winners, gave away $650 in gift cards and helped raise awareness of Habitat’s mission in our weekly fun fact!

Now it’s time to vote for your favorite before and after story, and we’ll reward them with the grand prize: a $150 gift card to the home improvement store of their choice! Check out each entry below and then place your vote.

I voted for David from Montana. I’m a sucker for the outdoors and maybe a little jealous since I’ll have to settle for my screened in porch in my condo for now.

  2. paintergal says:

Good luck to all the participants. And hey- the best part of it is that these projects are done. 🙂

  3. MissFixIt says:

Good luck you all win in the end with the transformations though.

Just want to say I voted for David and I have no idea who he is but it was based on what I thought transformed a space the most.

I really don’t think it fair to vote on popularity due to the fact that a popular blogger put it out there “VOTE FOR ME!”
Vote for the project you think is best not because the particular blogger is your personal favorite

  5. Tom says:

A few rooms are not the same room. Windows with floor vents and stairway, not in first photo. Bathroom with tub a toilet to a room with vent in wall and a door no tub and toilet. Mmmmmmm.

  6. I like some of the before pictures better than the after pictures, but there’s no accounting for taste.

  7. Cricket says:

I think people are voting because they know the person rather than the best transformation otherwise #11 would NOT be the top runner. Seriously ya’ll! Look at the beauty of the other entries and seriously consider who’s the best. Be honest! There are some wonderful entries here. Don’t vote just because the person is your friend because that’s not honest and the wrong entry will win undeserving! There’s no honor in that and if it were me I’d have to give the prize back!

  8. Cindy says:

I would have to disagree with everyone slamming the front runner- #11. Clearly there are only two other competitors that come close and that would be #2 and #3. All of the others are either better in the before picture or were nothing more than paint and accessories. If you read the steps on how #11 accomplished their mud room..you’d clearly see they built all by hand themselves. There’s no denying it is beautiful and functional. I really don’t understand why people feel the need to be so cruel.

  9. paintergal says:

Cindy, I suggest that you read the full articles that go along with each transformation. There is more work involved in many of these projects than just looking at the two before/after photos shown above.

    • Jean says:

Thanks, Paintergal. I agree. Tearing down a garage, building a deck, sodding a lawn, building a fence and a shed….months of work! It wasn’t easy. Your bathroom remodel looks great. We did two of those this summer, as well! Good luck!
