Lucy’s Simple Frozen Birthday Party!

Lucy’s Simple Frozen Birthday Party!

How did my baby get to be 4?!? It went too quick. Lucy was so excited for her birthday and decided on having a Frozen birthday party after Nana gave her an Anna costume for Christmas. I was kind of surprised because she’s not all that gaga for Frozen, but we went with it. I swore this year not to go overboard, so here’s Lulu’s simple Frozen birthday party! Invitations Of course, it always starts with the invitation. Again, in my efforts to scale it back, I made invitations on the computer and then emailed them to... Keep reading...

The Best of 2014

I’m always a little late to the game, but I figure it’s still January and maybe you missed some of my favorite projects and moments from last year. While these are my favorite projects, we also had a big change this year – we moved! And while maybe the most stressful time I have ever experienced, it has brought us so much joy (and projects, haha). We hope you stick with us this year and we appreciate all your past support, comments, encouragement, and kindness. xoxo Stencil Wall I had no idea just how loved this stencil... Keep reading...

Children’s Desk Makeover DIY

As you know we moved into a single family home in the beginning of October 2014 and its been slow decorating each of the rooms, especially with Thanksgiving and Christmas. But I’m super excited to show you my desk makeover DIY in Izzie’s big girl room! The back story: Growing up, my favorite Christmas present ever was my own desk! I remember loving sitting at it and listening to music, doing homework, writing, and reading Nancy Drew. And this is THE DESK. We never had room for it before, so when we moved, I asked my parents... Keep reading...

A Few of My Favorite Things: Winter Addition

With Thanksgiving having just passed and looking forward to Christmas, I am thankful for so much! For salvation and forgiveness, my family, good friends, a home, heat, a full fridge. We have more than we need. That being said, there are always a few new things to us this year that are definitely not needs, but certainly fun to have, and I am excited to share them with you! Duluth Cold Weather Gear That’s right, I’m driving a tractor. Crazy, right? I’ll get to that later, but as we did our final yard prep for winter,... Keep reading...

Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas: DIY Scented Ornaments

Welcome to the Homemade Holiday Blog Hop! I’m teaming up with a bunch of other bloggers to give you a Handmade Gift Guide for this holiday season. After you read about how to make DIY Scented Ornaments with Essential Oils, be sure to look at the bottom for more great ideas. DIY Scented Ornaments We’ve made clay ornaments in past years. What’s not to love? They are cute, personal, cheap, and the kids love making them! Also, write a cute note on the back with a Sharpie marker, and it becomes a fancy gift tag. But this... Keep reading...

Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas: Lotion Bars with Essential Oils

Welcome to the Homemade Holiday Blog Hop! I’m teaming up with a bunch of other bloggers to give you a Handmade Gift Guide for this holiday season. After you read about how to make Lotion Bars with Essential Oils, be sure to look at the bottom for more great ideas. Lotion Bars (aka Bee Bars) This recipe was the brain child of my cousin, and friend, Naomi. For years, she has struggled with very, very dry, cracked (and often bleeding) hands that come with the dry, cold winters. For awhile she used a store-bought Bee Bar, with lots... Keep reading...

How to Apply Wall Decals with Royal Designs Studio

How to Apply Wall Decals with Royal Designs Studio

Royal Designs Studio sent me these decals for free in addition to money towards future purchases, as a part of their holiday campaign. However, opinions and tips are 100% mine. Wallternatives by Royal Designs Studio made my Thanksgiving decorating super easy this year with their Fall Phrases Removeable Wall Decal Set! I’ve put up decal before in the past, and WOW was it a headache. They often bubble or go on, only to realize that it’s crooked. But not these decals! They are so thick that I did not have them bubble... Keep reading...

How to Kill Bugs in Wood: My FREE Decorative Logs

With our new house and beautiful white brick fireplace, I really wanted to add some decorative logs to the fireplace decor. If you saw my post yesterday on my Thanksgiving Mantel, you saw these beautiful logs in action. I just wasn’t sure where to get these pretty logs I see in magazines and amazing blogger homes. So I put it on my personal FB page, asking my local friends where I could find pretty, round logs. Some people suggested an arborist or tree cutter. But my sweet brother-in-law, Chris offered me wood from their backyard,... Keep reading...

DIY Thanksgiving Mantel: Gold & Rustic

FREE was the name of the game for this year’s DIY Thanksgiving Mantel! It doesn’t get much better than that, right? Tell me what you recognize and where I had it in the old house, for extra bonus points! I tried to repurpose or move around decor that I already had on hand, or find things in nature to incorporate, like the logs and pine cones. My children, also often seen in the wild, enjoyed hopping in the pics, but they didn’t make the cut. haha So let me give you the tour… This is one of my favorite pictures... Keep reading...

The Teal Pumpkin Project: Allergy Safe & Real Food Approved!

I realize that almost every blogger in the world has already moved on the Christmas projects and posted about Halloween months ago. But I’m a bit behind this year and sorta operating on a minute by minute basis. Have you heard about The Teal Pumpkin Project, promoted by FARE, Food Allergy Research & Education? The idea is to paint a pumpkin teal and put it on your porch, signaling to Trick or Treaters that your home is providing non-food/candy options for kids that have food allergies. Pretty cool, right?! Before I even heard... Keep reading...

DIY Stencil Wall with Royal Design Studio

Who has two thumbs and loves a DIY stencil wall? This girl! We’ve now been in our new home for about 2 weeks. I tell ya, we had the easy life before. The town home we lived in for the last 9 years was completely updated, decorated the way I like, and our honey-do list was pretty short. Well, now the list is a mile long and no end in sight. But on the upside, its been a lot of fun taking the house from drab to fab. No joke, the Builder Beige walls are killing me. Before we even moved, this was the first painting project I planned... Keep reading...

#OPCmove2014

Jocie | October 8, 2014

If you’ve been following along on Facebook and Instagram, you have already heard, but WE MOVED!  In some ways it was bittersweet. We loved our town home – we moved in almost 9 years ago, when we were married. We poured our hearts (and sweat) into making it ours. Both our girls were born there. And we built amazing friendships with our neighbors. Many summer nights, we sat outside, watching the kids play, eating pizza and having a drink. Photo credit: Chris Paulis Photography It was so hard to say goodbye, to the friends... Keep reading...

5 Minutes or Less: Pine Cone Place Card Holders

These Pine Cone Place card holders are part of “5 Minutes or Less,” an ongoing series dedicated to quick and fun crafts and DIY projects that you can do in five minutes or less. This segment came to being because in our busy life it was difficult making the time for the involved and time-consuming projects that I love. We would love to feature your ideas too, so don’t forget to take lots of pictures of your next “5 Minutes or Less” DIY and send ‘em our way! This was one of my favorite Thanksgiving crafts last year, but it... Keep reading...

Fall Bridal Shower Ideas: Pumpkins and Jars!

Need some great fall bridal shower ideas? Well, one of my really friends, Christy (old roomie from after college but before I got married) got married last year to a really amazing guy, which is only fitting since she is a really amazing woman. I helped throw a shower in her honor, along with several of the other bridesmaids. We wanted to pay homage to her fall wedding with lots of pumpkins, candles, fall flowers, burlap, and fall foods! We all had a wonderful time, and most of all, I hope she felt really loved and celebrated.  *This... Keep reading...
